Nancy Hartmann: 2024 SPARC Excellence in Auxiliary Award Winner

Nancy Hartmann, Director of Auxiliary Programs at Pike School in Andover, Massachusetts, received the SPARC Excellence in Auxiliary Award for exemplary work and outstanding contributions to the field of independent school auxiliary programs. SPARC Executive Director Nat Saltonstall presented the award to Nancy at the 2024 National Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In his introduction, SPARC Senior Advisor David Sullivan praised Nancy's forty-year career in youth development and described her as a "positive, zesty, and energetic force in the New England camp and auxiliary world.” 

Nancy brings to the field multi-faceted experience that includes outdoor education, administrative work as a Girl Scout and YMCA Camp Administrator, and auxiliary expertise in summer camps, after school programs, and community initiatives. She worked in auxiliary at two Massachusetts schools--Brooks School in North Andover and Glen Urquart School in Beverly--before landing in her present position at Pike School.

Current Pike School Board Member Bobbie Crump-Burbanks worked with Nancy at Brooks School. Bobbie describes Nancy as "always thinking outside the box and driven by creativity. She embodies what it means to be an innovative leader. Her generous spirit, never-ending sense of positivity and infectious laughter have uplifted everyone around her."

Pike School students love working with Nancy, saying that she is "awesome and amazing and lot of fun to be around" while being "cool and not strict."
